If you want to achieve your muscle building objectives, there are certain laws that you need to follow, no matter which fitness program you undergo. Here are some of the guidelines you must keep in mind.

1- Formulate your objectives – This assumes that you have your objectives of weight training very clear in your mind. From the very start, it has to be very clear in your mind as to what are the objectives that you want to achieve in your muscle building program. Without the guidance of clear objectives, there is every possibility that your training may be haphazard. So make it clear whether you want massive muscle building or whether you just want your muscles to be toned. Accordingly your program may be designed and adapted.

2- Adapt your program – The best muscle building program would mix in with your routine schedule and allow you enough time to rest and develop your muscles at a speed that is comfortable for you. In fact, rest for the body is very crucial to achieve the objectives of weight training. You should consider the general well-being of your physical body and know the limits up to which you can stretch. Those who do not care about this aspect risk injury to their bodies and even besides injury fatigue can take a toll on you and may compel you to stop your training midway.

3- Identify muscle groups – Another factor of good muscle building is that you identify the muscle groups you want to work on and concentrate on one muscle group a day instead of working on all of them simultaneously. Working on one part a day gives time for those muscles to recuperate from the damage caused in weight training while you are working on the other muscle groups. It is recommended that you take 2 days rest or even 3-4 days depending on the intensity of your weight training.

4- Constant Monitoring – You need to monitor your progress continually. Your objectives of muscle building should not be stagnant, rather even as your progress you can keep on raising the bar of your weight training program. There cannot be standard weights prescribed for all but you need to “listen” to your body signals and gauge the limits up to which you can stretch your muscles.
