The bicep has three tendons in all. One tendon stretches to the elbow and the other two extend to the shoulders. The bicep tendons that connect with the shoulder are the most fragile. And they are responsible for 89 to 96 percent of all bicep tendon ruptures.

What are the signs that you may have snapped your bicep tendons?

You will know hen the bicep tendon has detached or snapped off because there will be a popping sound and your will be in excruciating pain. The bicep tendon injury usually occurs when at the weakest point of the biceps when the bicep is extended

You see the bicep tendons that attached to the shoulder are a big part of functional movements in the upper body. But their attachment doesn’t end at the shoulder but stretches out to the scapula. The scapula is in charge of the coordination and timing of the shoulder. So when the bicep tendon gets ruptured a lot of undue stress is shifted towards the shoulder and this leads to excessive pain.

Hurting the bicep tendons usually occur in individuals 45 to 65 of age. When the tendon has been taxed. When the rupture occurs the biggest effect it has is the loss of strength in the injured shoulder and bicep muscles

Now if you are a young athlete who is regularly involved in athletic activities then you first concern is to repair the bicep tendon and repair it quickly. Not doing so could lead to permanent damage and a serious halt to your abilities.

Now on the other hand if your age is above forty and you can complete every day tasks with no difficulties having sustained the injury then fixing the tendon is your choice.

Surgery and extensive rehabilitation are the only means to get rid of a bicep tendon injury, so if you can perform daily activities you might want to refrain from having surgery until ready

The only way to prevent such an injury from occurring in the first place is to perform sufficient warm up sets in your bicep training workouts. You should also not use excessive heavy weights without first warming up
