Body Building | The Preferred Foods That Help Build Muscle

If you are committed to building muscle mass, it’s going to take a little bit more that lifting weights. You’re going to start eating food that helps build muscle. It’s equally important that you give your body the nutrition that it needs by following a proper and appropriate diet. In order to do so, however, you must understand what foods your body needs to function effectively and build that muscle mass. The following article discusses those foods that experience has shown to be most effective.

I may seem that a significant weight increase can be experienced by eating more fatty foods. This will increase your weight, but will do so only by increasing the storage of fat in the body. The weight you are trying to gain is not in fat, but in muscle mass. To accomplish this, avoid the fatty foods, and focus upon eating lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and other food that helps build muscle. If you need advice on the best diet to follow, check with your physician or a nutritionist, although you will be safe if you simply limit your diet to vegetables and lean meats.

Lean meats, like fish, turkey, and chicken are highly recommended for those who are trying to build muscle. They are very high in needed protein and the amino acids that are critical for rebuilding and healing muscle tissue that has been purposefully damaged during exercise. The amino acids are the catalyst for breaking down the protein that actually heals the muscles. It is this healing of muscles, this muscle repair that actually results in the increase of muscle mass. While protein and the amino acids are of primary importance, studies have shown that potassium rich fruits like bananas and strawberries are also important to the muscle healing process.

Now you have the secret to good nutrition by eating only foods that help build muscle. Stay away from fatty foods, and eat lean meats and vegetables. Don’t eat fried foods. They provide excess fat and empty calories that you don’t need. Eat food that has been grilled or baked. When it is necessary to cook with a vegetable oil, use olive oil. Avoid processed foods, which are traditional sources of fat, salt, sugar, God knows what additives. Eating the right diet will benefit your health in general, and enable you to build up the desired muscle mass rapidly.
